It's been a very long time since I blogged but with the proceedings of Hurricane Katrina how could you not be compelled to share your thoughts? I won’t mentally masturbate and spew thoughts from the comforts of an unaffected home. I also won't hurl insults in the direction of people's whose opinion I don't agree with. At this age and stage you a few things differently:
LISTEN: Forget politicians, newscasters and John Q Public pointing fingers, I heard the voices of the victims. Hoarse anguished cried of people that have been pushed beyond the limits of reason. I'm still crying. When I listened to the people that REALLY mattered I knew how to . . .
ACT: In my younger days I'd get caught up in causes and felt that my presence at a protest or getting in the face of an opposing faction was a vital contribution to a situation. I now find a more immediate and proactive approach has far greater effect. I gave to the Red Cross in honor of my ailing father. He was the first to teach me the real meaning of activism so I thought I pay him homage. I will continue to give money, donations and anything else available to me to any LEGITIMATE organization working with survivors. They need the basics of life, not someone's rhetoric. & nbsp;
PRAYER: These private meditations have taken on a new meaning lately. I prayer for the recovery of the live of survivors, souls of the dead, and the misguided who think it more important to malign the situation with political and personal agenda. I pray for the greater global issues we face as humans as I try to find clarity in a time of sheer madness. Most of all I pray for . . . & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;   ; & nbsp; &n bsp; &nb sp; &nbs p;   ; & nbsp;
HUMILITY: Taking personal pronouns out of an equation allows empathy to take hold. Compassion becomes the moral compass and gratitude for meaningful attachments become wondrous.
MAY WE ALL LEARN FROM THIS TRAGEDY
