Dancing in the Dawn
01.02.05 (5:21 pm)   [edit]

I've been away for months dealing with some life changing issues.  I'm opening a store in DC called HomeGrown Creations.  It features the fine art, literary and craft works of Washington area artist.  The process from vision to grand opening is labor intensive.  The business plan is not for the timid but if you have a goal you have to see it through.  January 10th marks my second year as a full time artist. The store is part of the evolutionary process.  This part of life's journey has been precarious yet rewarding.  I've learned a great deal about my strengths and face weaknesses head on.  Ultimately, the fear that kept me in the 9 to 5 world is gone.  It been replaced by a fierce determination to explore the best of myself.  My artwork is selling well and there has been an interesting twist . . . .

I'm also a playwright that hasn't dealt with that part of myself for years and suddenly a play I'd written in the early 90's is being read in NYC in March 2005!  Allegedly it'll happen the same month as the store's opening.  The irony isn't lost on me.  I'm sharing this with all the people on teetering on the edge of fear and faith.   You have the power to make things happen.

Before I took the plunge I made sure I had a financial cushion for a year.  That made the difference.  If you have something you really need to do plan, pray and GO FOR IT!!
